All the things to know for the Adelaide Show

The Royal Adelaide Show is running from 30 August – 8 September 2019.

The show opens at 9am every day. The carnival runs until 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturdays. The Showbag Pavilion is open from 9am to 9pm (or 10pm on Friday and Saturdays). See the list of opening times for all Pavilions here.

The fireworks are in the Main Arena every night.

On Fridays and Saturdays they kick off at 9pm and Monday – Thursday and Sundays they begin at 8pm.

The Adelaide Show is one of the most affordable of all the Royal Shows around Australia. An adult ticket costs $24.50 when you pre-purchase online (compared to $27.50 when purchased at the gate). A family pass will set you back $59 and covers 2 adults and 2 children (5-14 years) or 1 adult and 3 children. Children aged 4 or under are free.

After 6pm tickets are available for $13.50 with a voucher from The Advertiser. This applies only between Monday 2nd and Friday 6th September only.

BankSA customers can get $10 tickets to the show when purchased online with Ticketek. These tickets are available for entry after 5pm.

Special return tickets! If you are going to make a return trip to the show you can purchase a return ticket on your first visit for only $12. You can use this ticket on any day you wish to return. They are not refundable or transferrable.

Public Transport

Avoid the traffic and catch public transport! With over 30 bus, train and tram stops within walking distance of the Adelaide Showground, including a dedicated bus interchange and railway station, there are plenty of Adelaide Metro services available for your Show travel needs. Make the smart move and hop on a bus, train or tram.

Take advantage of the Adelaide Showground railway station located adjacent to the Showground north western entrance. Catch a Seaford or Belair train, operating every day of the Show. In addition, Royal Show train shuttles will operate between Adelaide and Adelaide Showground stations during off-peak times to ensure a high frequency service.

The 21W Show shuttle bus operates all day, every day of the Show between the city (Currie Street stop V) and the Goodwood Road bus interchange at the Showground.

Special O-Bahn Show express buses operate every day of the Show from Tea Tree Plaza Interchange via the O-Bahn, picking up at Paradise and Klemzig then direct to the Showground. Three trips each morning depart from Golden Grove Village, or you can catch any regular O-Bahn service to the city and connect to the 21W Show shuttle bus.

There are plenty of trams running; just hop off at stop 3 Goodwood Road for access to the Showground.

Uber and taxis

There are dedicated Ride Share Zones located on Rose Terrace west of the Kidman Gate.

This mode of transport particularly excites us. If you’re a BankSA cardholder look-out EcoCaddy for a complimentary lift to and from the Show. All you have to do is show your BankSA card when you see an EcoCaddy between 10am and 7pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 4pm on weekends.

Pick-up and drop off zones are between the Greenhill Road carpark and the Rose Terrace entrance to the Showgrounds and from the Goodwood Road tram stop to the Leader Street entrance to the Showgrounds. How amazing!

The primary parking is the Adelaide Park Lands and is $14 per car per day. It’s a short walk to the showgrounds from there.

Park 22 – directly north of the Adelaide Showground. Access to traffic travelling east along Greenhill Road or south along Anzac Highway entering.

Park 21W - east of Goodwood Road. Access from South Terrace travelling west.

Park 23 – north of Anzac Highway. Access to traffic travelling north on Anzac Highway.

There is casual parking available in Rose Terrace and Leader Street and is limited until after 6pm each day. When available before 6pm it’s $25 per day or $15 after 6pm. It’s a smaller car park so fills up quite quickly!

Lockers are available for hire at the Show. Open from 9am until 9.30pm each day, the lockers are available in The Atrium Food Court next to Jubilee Pavilion.

Options for lockers are:

Regular size (82L) all day lockers which can be accessed throughout the day - $10 to hire (plus a $2 refundable key deposit)
