The Royal Melbourne Show is in town from the 21st of September to the 1st of October 2019. It’s held at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale.
The show opens at 9.30am every day. The carnival runs until 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturdays. For the first time, showbags will be in the Grand Pavilion and is open from 9.30am – 9pm every day. Look for the Pie in the Sky!
The Fireworks Spectacular presented by Brighter are in Herald Sun Area each night.
You will save up to 20% on tickets by buying online before 9pm on the 20th of September. An adult ticket costs $33.50 when you pre-purchase online (compared to $42.00 when purchased at the gate) and a Child ticket (5-14 years) is $19 (or $21 at the gate). A family pass (2 adults, 2 children) will set you back $77.50 ($80 at the gate). Children aged 4 or under are free.
After 5pm tickets mean you can save up to 50%! You can currently nab an adult ticket for $21 or a child ticket for $10.50.
RACV members also save up to 25%, you need your membership number to gain access to the discounted tickets.
Avoid the traffic and catch public transport! Public transport is the best way of getting to Melbourne Showgrounds for the Royal Melbourne Show, particularly travelling by train.
You can easily get the train to the show. Trains from Flinders Station (generally platforms 8/9) will depart every 10-20 minutes throughout the day and evening.
The last train to depart Melbourne Showgrounds will be at 10:30pm
Catch Tram number 57 from the corner of Flinders & Elizabeth streets to Melbourne Showgrounds on Epsom Road (stop 32). Travel time is approximately 25 minutes.
Catch 404 service from Footscray to Moonee Ponds- to Ascot Vale Rd/ Epsom Rd
Catch 472 service from Williamstown to Moonee Ponds- to Langs Rd/ Epsom Rd
Both of these services travel regularly to Melbourne Showgrounds precinct.
V/Line customers with tickets for the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show will be entitled to travel Economy OFF PEAK return for $15 from any destination on the V/Line network.
To get the special fare customers must travel with a V/Line paper ticket and cannot use their myki.
The Special Event fare will also include free metropolitan travel on trains, trams and buses to get to and from the Show.
Parking during the Royal Melbourne Show is available at Flemington Racecourse for $25 a day. Entry to the car park is via Epsom Rd or Smithfield Rd, with access to the Show via the rail underpass. The Epsom Rd entrance is open from 8am-11pm.
